| blah blah blah...Eric loves board sports....blah blah blah...Eric is a douchebag
Not
I've gotten that out of the way (because I'm sure some of you guys are
probably tired of me talking about board sports, and I PROMISE I won't
write anything about the topic until later this year...unless there's
anything noteworthy before that time), I'm outlining my "dream" sites
for board sports.
Note that I've arranged the sites according to
the appropriate possible progression of skill level I will achieve in
the foreseeable future. Unless I break a bone somewhere down the line
(knock on wood)
SNOWBOARDING 1. Mammoth Mountain, California - Jjust to waste the hell out of my abused snowboard with mile-long runs and smooth powder 2. Aspen, Colorado - I'll suit up in full protective gear and bust out the jumps 3. Nagano, Japan -
In case I get a faster board, and also I want to feel like an Olympian.
At least a reject from the Winter Olympics tryouts, if ever 4. Whistler, BC, Canada -
Seems like the ultimate winter skii trip. Full blown winter gear
including nut cups, in case I hit my crotch on a rail. Then champagne
at the ski lodge later....once I make my millions of dollars, or tens
of millions of pesos...which will be never
SURFING 1. Siargao, Philippines - Right down south, consistent Pacific surf. Good to practice the short board, because I suck like hell right now 2. Bali, Indonesia - Probably
a good variety of longboard and shortboard waves. Eitherway, the island
is teeming with other after-surfing activities...such as getting boozed
up and throwing up in the ocean 3. Huntington Beach, California -
Once I get past the terrotorialisms of the locals, maybe I can brave
these shores and hope not to get smacked in the face by SoCal surfer
douchebags on shore. 4. Anywhere down the Gold Coast of Queensland, Australia - Just because I've never been there 5. "Pipeline", Oahu, Hawaii -
Maybe I'll just watch from the shore. I hear Jack Johnson knocked out
his front teeth and got 150 stitches on his skull while riding the
notorious waves at this site.
WAKEBOARDING 1. CWC, Camarines Sur, Philippines -
Long rides, and cheaper rates. One of the best spots in the world, I
hear. Downside: the long lines and the 8-hour bus ride from Manila 2. East Coast, Singapore -
NO lines (in the weekday), top-notch equipment and instructors who
don't give a damn what you do (because you signed a waiver form that
frees them from ALL liability). I'ma knock myself out trying awkwardly
placed jumps at the ramp, because no one's there to make fun of me. 3. Kiteboarding in Brazil -
Well it's not wakeboarding but you use a wakeboard. And it's definetly
a step up from the usual cable/ski tow, because (trust me) letting the
wind propel you is very hard, and fairly unpredictable. Plus you're in
Brazil, the Latina hottie capital of the world.
"Pipeline"? Pipe Dreams...
Now I need to win the lotto so I can afford to take a year-long vacation to achieve all these.

| For those who had been asking me how's it been online and offline
for the past half-year, notice that I've been using the word "killer"
in my responses. "Killer week", "Killer day", "Work's a
Killer", "Killer waves", "Killer beer!", "Killer party!" "Killer
hangover" "Killer presentation", "Traffic's a killer!", "That lady's a
killer!", "This job is killing me!" You'd think I was probably having either a BAD year, or a BAD ASS year. And truthfully, it seems that I had both. I've
"assimilated" myself to the advertising industry, earlier this year,
and since then I've been juicing myself up with stress, caffeine,
alcohol and nicotine. I'd say I've ridden this mind and body of mine
like a line-free rollercoaster at Six Flags, so much that I've puked
out my roast beef sandwich on my shirt multiple times (if you didn't
CATCH MY DRIFT, I was being figurative). The "convenience" of
moving mere blocks away from where I work didn't really relieve the
stresses of driving. What it did really is made it more convenient for
work to "intrude" in my life...and knowing my job, it HAS TO intrude.
It's like this cloud of bad vibes hovering above Makati, and I can't
escape it since I just live down the street. While work has been
beating the crap out of me, senseless, it has also given me opportunities to a variety of experiences: meeting some of the coolest
people around, partying hard and more often (although not as wild as
that shit we used to pull-off in college), seeing hard work being done
(and undone), dealing with the best and the worst kind of people and
most importantly, learning to keep myself as true and a genuinely
GOOD-INTENTIONED human being as much as possible despite the craploads
of crap that's being crapped on me every week. Of course, I've
still managed to keep it so that REAL LIFE happens outside the office
doors. New friends, new hobbies. Old friends, old behaviors. Boozing up
and poker nights. Road trips and urban trekking. Random hook-ups and
planned let downs. And a whole lot of sore muscles. Life was
fun beyond the office desk...even though I've still been missing my
Southern California lifestyle, my old life half a world away.. I guess
it's a bit of my quarterlife crisis motivating me to relive those times
only to realize, I'm still in a different place with different
people.Oh Well...SoMuch for SoCal.... With the ups and downs of well...everything, it was definetly a killer year. Future
assessments? Next steps? Moving forward? (freakin' Accout Management
linggo) I'd rather put these action steps for 2008 into questions: Shall
I be better equipped for worse situations? Am I finally going to get an
Xbox 360, or am I gonna waste my money on more sneakers? Will I ever
see my abs? Do I see myself in the same job for the next couple of
years? When will I go snowboarding again? When will I finally
settle? Would Lasik eye surgery cure my astigmatism? Am I going to
FINALLY quit smoking? Will I see myself onstage with an acoustic guitar
ever again? Any new countries to visit? Will I be more serious about
the long term? Anyway, I have yet to answer these minute to significant issues hopefully within the next year. For now I have to start working on those abs! (yeah right) | | |
